This position is part of the Uvalde National Fish Hatchery. As a Biological Science Technician you will be responsible for planning and carrying out daily aquatic animal husbandry duties such as, but not limited to, specimen collection, aquatic holding system design, construction, and maintenance, feeding, breeding, and rearing aquatic species, implementation of standard biosecurity and health practices including disease treatment if needed.
This is a Term appointment, not-to-exceed 13 months, which can be extended for a total appointment of 4 years.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The employee endures periods of prolonged standing, walking, stooping, and bending. The employee is required to lift, carry, and set up equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work commonly requires considerable exertion when walking over wet, muddy, rough, uneven, and rocky surfaces. The work is performed outdoors and in an office setting. Temperature and weather extremes are encountered in outdoor work. The employee is expected to perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to avoid endangering self, coworkers, or property.
Occasional travel - Occasional travel to attend training, meetings, conferences, etc.
