The Senior Director, ECP is a leader on our Energy & Climate Practice team. This leader supports the Vice President, Energy and Climate Practice in establishing the practice’s working processes and growth trajectory as a consulting organization inside a larger firm. The incumbent also leads ongoing engagements with our most important clients, including those they bring to 3Degrees.
This position will be ideally located in our San Francisco or Portland offices. Consideration for Remote location will be provided on a candidate-by-candidate basis.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This position has three core functions:
Improve our consulting organization’s processes in how we manage our work within our team, the company, and with clients;
Together with our marketing and business development teams, establish and implement plans (e.g. products, service lines, client types, etc.) which accelerate our growth trajectory; and
Through reputation, contacts, and capability, increase our attractiveness to, and our ability to serve, our targeted client base.
Examples of specific duties include:
Create working processes which make our organization more efficient, enabling the team to spend more time with clients and less time negotiating resources, chasing down the latest template, or reviewing contract language.
Solidify the business fundamentals we choose to use, to ensure we maximize our value within and across our organization (e.g. billing rates and philosophy, project size targets, utilization measurement, resource management, etc.); build upon our dashboards to ensure our KPIs are illuminating the right things; recommend course corrections as needed.
Alongside our finance team, establish group budgeting and budget-tracking processes.
Support the group VP in establishing and implementing company strategy as it cascades to the consulting team.
Identify and secure new business through personal contacts, ongoing targeting and adjustment alongside Marketing and Business Development teams.
Hire, mentor, and lead staff, including leading engagements for top-tier clients.
Using your extensive domain expertise, lead large/complex consulting engagements.
Act as Account Manager for clients which span 3Degrees’ functions.
WHAT WE’LL NEED FROM YOU
Deep domain expertise in energy and climate; a reputation for excellence in client service.
Extensive experience and a passion for the business of consulting.
Proven ability to grow a consulting business.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including experience making presentations to external clients, client stakeholders, prospects, internal stakeholders, and the public in arenas such as policymaking, industry forums, and legal proceedings; experience making and facilitating presentations to C-level leaders at client companies, elected officials and the media.
