Job Description

The Water Agency Hydrogeologist I – Extra-Help performs hydrogeologic support work in the office and field assisting Groundwater Resources Section staff on various projects, including:

  • Preparing figures, graphs, and other materials needed for Groundwater Sustainability Plans
  • Performing groundwater data collection
  • Updating and managing hydrologic and hydrogeologic databases
  • Deploying, maintaining, and calibrating field instrumentation for the collection of surface water and groundwater data

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in geology, hydrology or engineering with coursework in earth sciences, including groundwater hydrology
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team under supervision of Groundwater Resources Section staff
  • Experience in deploying, maintaining, and calibrating field instrumentation and sensors for the collection of surface water and groundwater data
  • Experience collecting hydrologic and hydrogeologic data, such as measuring groundwater level elevations and streamflow
  • Experience using ArcGIS, Matlab, and standard Microsoft Office Suite
