HGL (HydroGeologic, Inc.), is an industry leader with over 30 years of experience providing comprehensive environmental engineering services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address today’s environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource challenges. HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal and state government clients. Currently, HGL has a position open for a mid-level Staff Scientist within its Florida Operation.
HGL currently has two Performance Based Remediation (PBR) Contracts within Florida which require full-service environmental investigation and remediation services through the year 2021. Our Florida East PBR includes work at Cape Canaveral AFS, Patrick AFB, and Homestead ARB and our Florida West PBR includes MacDill AFB and Avon Park AFR.
The Staff Scientist position will be responsible for supporting environmental investigation field tasks (sampling, well drilling oversight, etc.); remediation construction services, document preparation, and office work under the direction of the project and installation managers for both contracts. Must be a team-oriented person willing to conduct a variety of field assignments and write cohesive report sections on the evaluation of investigative and remediation results.
The position is based at Cape Canaveral, Florida but will require the candidate to be available for significant travel within Florida to Homestead Air Reserve Base and MacDill AFB.
Must have environmental field investigation experience and prefer remediation experience (in-situ injection experience a plus). Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications. Proficiency in MS Project and MS Power Point is a plus.
This is a staff level position and requires 3+ years of related work experience. The successful candidate must have experience in the following:
Must demonstrate a history of initiative, motivation and creativity. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail.
The Staff Scientist position requires a minimum of a BA/BS degree in a field related to Environmental Studies such as Geology, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering, plus three years of experience. MS is a plus.
Master of Science degree in a related science or engineering field of study.
To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks.. The successful candidate will be required to pass the installation security checks and to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment.
Travel, overtime and moderate physical work will routinely be required.
