Summary

About the Position:
This position is located at Fort Shafter, Hawaii and serves as an Interdisciplinary (Biologist, Oceanographer, Wildlife Biologist, Physical Scientist, Ecologist, Environmental Engineer) in the U.S. Army Engineer District Honolulu, Regulatory Office.

Hawaii is a beautiful state, but may be considered to have a high cost of living. The median house price is $700K. The rental market is high as well. Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking. Responsibilities

  • Utilize a professional knowledge of natural, physical, and social sciences theories, practices, and methodologies, as they relate to the natural and human environment.
  • Evaluate permit application, compliance, and enforcement cases within the regulatory authority of the Clean Water Act, the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, and the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act.
  • Assist in the development of general permits.
  • Assist in the development of procedures to implement directives from higher authority.
  • Serve as a District representative on groups and task forces related to special regulatory initiatives directed toward effective, efficient, and consistent application of the regulatory program.
  • Represent the Corps as an expert witness in court cases on permit decisions and/or enforcement actions in which you are involved.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required approximately 20% of the time.
