Job Description

The Center for Biological Diversity seeks a full-time program assistant in our Climate Law Institute. The Climate Law Institute wages innovative legal and public-pressure campaigns to keep fossil fuels in the ground, advance clean-energy solutions, and protect species and ecosystems threatened by climate change. 

The program assistant will provide administrative, secretarial and campaign support to a dynamic team to support litigation, policy advocacy, grassroots organizing and media outreach. The working environment is fast-paced, exciting and supportive. 

Main duties:

  • Provide logistical planning and coordination of internal and external meetings, travel & conference arrangements, and events such as public presentations, rallies and hearings;
  • Complete office-management tasks including coordination with building management, contractors, mail and deliveries, maintaining office supplies, and office upkeep;
  • Provide administrative support as needed to lawyers, organizers and scientists, which may include formatting documents, copying, retrieving documents and similar tasks;
  • Prepare and distribute documents and materials to support all campaign work;
  • Assist with organizing and other campaign tasks. 

Essential qualities, qualifications and skills:

  • Ability and willingness to complete all of the listed job duties in a professional manner and properly handle confidential information;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Proficiency with PC operation and audio visual equipment;
  • Proficiency with computer programs including Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work well both with others and independently;
  • Commitment to environmental protection;
  • Demonstrated research and writing skills strongly preferred. 

Salary is commensurate with other nonprofit organizations and experience, and includes an excellent vacation and benefits package. Position will be located in our downtown Los Angeles office.
