The State Water Resources Control Board’s, Division of Drinking Water, Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program has an opening for an Environmental Scientist in the Proficiency Testing Unit. The position location is 1001 I Street, 13th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814. 


The incumbent serves as ELAP’s Quality Assurance Officer (QAO). The incumbent will be responsible for developing and updating ELAP’s Quality Assurance Manual and associate appendices to ensure compliance with The NELAC Institute (TNI), Volume 2, Standard for Accreditation Bodies Accrediting Environmental Laboratories (with ISO 17011). The incumbent will work collaboratively with the ELAP management team to oversee the accreditation process for quality assurance and contribute to ongoing developments in the quality assurance of accrediting laboratories. The incumbent will lead development and implementation of ELAP policies and planning for quality assurance using broad scientific/technical knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, technical knowledge of requirements of accrediting environmental laboratories, and conversant and familiar knowledge with scientific methods and principles, regulatory measures, enforcement standards, environmental legislation, criteria, practices, and guidelines to conduct periodic monitoring of laboratory assessment work.
