Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Planner for immediate employment for the Portland, OR office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Analyze environmental impacts from project activities and develop written descriptions of impacts for environmental documents, with specific focus on land use, visual resources, special designations, and recreation

  • Coordinate with GIS and visualization team members on visibility and conceptual appearance of facilities in simulations and video deliverables

  • Assist on a variety of environmental studies for land use planning and infrastructure projects including power, water, transportation, and development-related projects in the Pacific Northwest

  • Support environmental planning practice on proposals by researching requirements and assessing efforts required for permitting

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning or related field

  • 5+ years' experience successfully supporting environmental impact analysis documents and associated technical studies

  • Experience preparing environmental documents

  • Understanding of the environmental regulatory framework for the Pacific Northwest, including applicable state and federal laws

  • Strong research and analytical abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports

  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background working with federal government agencies, particularly Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service on environmental documents and permits

  • Completion of the BLM 5-day VRM training course

  • Experience interacting with state and local regulatory agency representatives in the Pacific Northwest
