Job Description

Support CH2M’s rapidly growing Environmental Remediation practice and have a hand in transforming tomorrow! As the early career to mid-level Environmental Geologist/Hydrogeologist, you’ll have the opportunity help restore environmentally impaired sites for federal and commercial clients on the west coast. Majority of the work is anticipated to be managed out of the San Diego, CA office. You’ll support the current San Diego Project Managers in preparing for and leading field activities, writing field summary reports including remedial investigation reports. You will lead the collection field observations and data collection assignments such as drilling soil borings, monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling and monitoring, soil sampling, and soil vapor sampling. You’ll Perform analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, or other sources to support site characterization efforts. You will complete technical writing with peer review, conducts critical analysis of data, and presents data and evaluations in a clear and concise manner. Contribute to the development of regulatory reporting technical documents (field logs, health and safety documentation, work plans, environmental investigation reports, remedial designs, etc.). Coordinates subcontractor activities to ensure orderly and efficient completion of work. May have limited client contact pertaining to specific project/tasks as directed by the Project Manager. Interact with internal team members in the local office, as well as regional and firm-wide staff. Provide leadership and accountability for the implementation, and measurable performance, of the CH2M Target Zero Health and Safety Program. Share experiences in a positive work environment where talents are recognized. Complete tasks within schedule and budget with a variety of teams from different disciplines and backgrounds and communicate status of tasks to project managers. You will work with talented remediation professionals and will assist project managers in day-to-day task management associated with the technical analysis and studies, environmental and remedial engineering, and regulatory and stakeholder consultation services. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • BS in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience with 3 years of environmental consulting experience, preferably on DoD projects.
  • Experience with implementing and conducting environmental investigations and or remediation.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of CERCLA regulatory processes
  • HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain
  • Must be able to plan, perform, travel for, and lead physically-challenging field work
  • Ability to start soon then relocate to San Diego, CA within 6 months

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • MS in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science or a closely related field.
  • USACE EM385-1-1 training or OSHA 30-hour training Professional certification
  • (PE, PG, PMP)
  • Someone already in the Southern California area is preferred
  • Excellent team building skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Specific training, knowledge, and experience necessary to develop, review, and implement various work plans and quality assurance project plans.
