The mission of the United States Section, International Boundary & Water Commission is to provide binational solutions to issues that arise during the application of United States - Mexico treaties regarding boundary demarcation, national ownership of waters, sanitation, water quality, and flood control in the border region.

In a developmental capacity, serves as a Hydrologic Technician at a designated field office of the United States Section, International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC). The work directly contributes to the USIBWC water quality and water quantity strategic goals; as such the position is in a mission-critical occupation (MCO)

  • Gathers, evaluates, and reports on data concerning the quantity, quality, availability, movement, and distribution of ground water and surface water.
  • Makes discharge record computations.
  • Measures flows, takes discharge measurements.
  • Maintains/repairs gaging station.
  • Prepares water accounting documentation.
  • Performs work in support of water quality, groundwater, and sanitation activities.
  • Makes contact with ranchers, cooperative observers, and personnel of the Mexican Section.
