As a Term Fish Biologist with Great Plains Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office, your primary duties will be to conduct field-based surveys to collect fisheries data; maintain and operate field gear such as vehicles, boats/trailers, and nets; summarize fisheries data for preparation of reports; and work with local, state, and federal partners to conserve the federally listed, endangered species (pallid sturgeon) in the Missouri River.
You will be supervised from the Great Plains Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office in Pierre, SD. However, the duty location of this position is Yankton, SD. The office space and equipment shop will be located at Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery. Secondary duties include assisting staff at Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery, monitoring for aquatic nuisance species, and participating in public outreach events.
This is a Term appointment, not-to-exceed 13 months, which can be extended for a total appointment of 4 years.
