Job Description


About the Position: Serves as an authority on the environmental management program staff of the Directorate of Public Works with program responsibility for the implementation of environmental policies and programs that embrace a range of subjects directly or indirectly concerned with contamination of surface and ground water resources, public safety and welfare, and protection of the installation's natural resources. Responsibilities include performance of technical and administrative duties in support of the US Army Garrison, Fort Huachuca (USAG-FH) Environmental Program and Natural and Cultural Resources Programs. The installation is located over a sole source aquifer which is used for drinking water by many military and civilian communities in the area. The installation is located closely adjacent to the San Pedro River National Conservation Area, and the natural resource issues are the subject of concern by local, state, and national environmentally-concerned organizations.

  • Interprets and implements new or revised policy directives or program materials from higher authority or regulatory agencies.
  • Makes presentations and responds to technical questions at public meetings.
  • Prepares replies to congressional and other queries pertaining to assigned projects.
  • Reviews highly technical research reports done by other agencies.
  • Coordinates projects, discusses design and specifications and plans of remediation, and monitors contracts which often involve technical disagreements.
