Working at the first supervisor level, under general supervision of the Environmental Program Manager I, supervises and directs the work of professional scientific staff (Environmental Scientists), mainly in the field of chemistry, in a complex and environmentally sensitive statewide pesticide registration program that protects the State’s natural resources and public health. Provides program management in the administration of the evaluation and registration of pesticide products, assists in training, and policy development and decisions. Serves as acting EPM I when necessary.
Supervises, plans, organizes, and directs the evaluation and processing of all pesticide products sold in California submitted for registration and data call-in/reevaluation activities in order to protect the State’s natural resources and public health, and meet the goals and objectives of the program; implements federal and state statutes, regulations, and policies of the Department during the registration process and data call-ins/reevaluations of registered products.
Coordinates, identifies problems, and recommends changes in the area of data call-ins/reevaluations for currently registered pesticides and associated processes including suspension of registration, etc.; monitors data call-ins/reevaluations for timeliness, uniformity, and the consistent application of laws and regulations and prepares status reports for the Director and the Agency.
