Job Description

INTERA Incorporated is seeking a self-motivated, bright Environmental Scientist or Hydrogeologist / Geologist to be located in our Santa Fe, New Mexico, office who is interested in a consulting career with our established group of professionals. We are interested in a team player who would like to be involved in site characterization, environmental forensics, and environmental remediation. The chosen candidate will support technical work both in the field as well as in the office on a wide range of projects. An enthusiasm for learning and problem solving will likely lead to a variety of job assignments.

In this position, you will be contributing to a technical team of geologists, hydrologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Interfacing with clients and developing work plans and cost estimates.
  • Collecting environmental samples (soil/rock, aqueous, vapor), overseeing drilling and monitoring well installation, and conducting hydraulic testing.
  • Managing and analyzing environmental data to be used in developing scientific reports.
  • Authoring detailed technical reports, developing presentations, and contributing to the scientific approaches that we develop and deliver. 

This position will include implementing highly technical work plans or studies for complex projects, leading teams of personnel to conduct field and office work, and providing subject matter expertise to clients on a variety of environmental and water resources projects.

This position is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which supports our Albuquerque office of over 25 people. Required Education and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geosciences, hydrogeology, or related field
  • 5 years of applied, relevant experience (advanced degrees may be “pro-rated” as professional experience)
  • General knowledge of hydrogeology and nature and extent of contamination evaluation
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Skills and experience in both data evaluation and technical report preparation
  • The ability to work with a project team or independently to complete technical work
  • The ability to travel to project sites or meetings within New Mexico and Texas 

Desired Education and Skills

  • Prior experience working for an environmental or engineering company
  • Experience with Phase I ESAs, environmental drilling techniques, and environmental sample collection
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
