Job Description

SUMMARY:  This position encompasses conducting technical, project management, and business development activities to support growth of our Pittsburgh, PA office commercial industrial programs.  Primary activities will be to provide guidance for environmental investigation and remediation projects, proposals, and business development activities with private sector clients.  Candidate will have a successful track record with commercial industrial clients in execution of their projects and gaining repeat business. The candidate may be requested to periodically support other projects/programs that are also managed in the Pittsburgh office including those for federal and state & local clients.  Periodic travel to locations, normally within the continental United States, will be required.


  • Perform Project Management activities for all aspects of site investigation and remediation projects including:
    • serving as a project manager on multiple concurrent site investigation and/or remediation projects
    • managing multidisciplinary staff and subcontractors, budget, and schedule to a successful outcome
    • interfacing with client project managers, government regulators, and other stakeholders per project requirements
    • planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating detailed phases of technical work in a part of a major project or in a total project of complex scope
    • preparing subcontractor procurements, specifications, and bidding documents
  • Provide technical direction to on-going and new projects related to site investigation and remediation projects including:
    • developing conceptual site models of contaminant fate & transport in various media (i.e., soil, groundwater, surface, sediment, air)
    • preparing work plans investigation and remediation work plans and reports
    • preparing feasibility/corrective measures studies,
    • providing direction to staff personnel to complete project tasks and mentor junior level technical support personnel
    • directing, overseeing and verifying technical work of others
  • Participate in business development activities for commercial industrial clients including:
    • leading and/or preparing technical proposals and cost estimates
    • serving as a seller-doer to increase our market share with current and new clients
    • supporting development of business development presentations 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required; advanced degree such as a Masters is preferred.  Minimum of ten years of related experience is preferred.  Demonstrated success in the role as Seller-Doer for commercial customers. Candidates must have commercial client experience providing strong technical direction/support for site investigation and remediation projects.  Experience in interfacing with state and local agencies is beneficial.  Knowledge of investigation and remediation approaches is required.  Experience with groundwater modeling is desirable.
