Utah Rivers Council is looking for two energetic, organized individuals to help conduct outreach work for our WaterRoots Campaign to protect some of the West’s most important aquatic ecosystems. WaterRoots is a grassroots campaign to solve the root problems facing our aquatic ecosystems by leading Utah into a more sustainable water future.
WaterRoots Coordinators work to ensure this campaign is successful by helping to engage and educate the public through events, presentations, and via our water conservation programming. Utah Rivers Council is the statewide advocacy leader in water policy, water conservation and river protection. We are looking for two fun, independent individuals to join our hard working staff of advocates who enjoy our work and Utah’s amazing outdoor landscapes.
Our WaterRoots Campaign educates Utahns about their water use and how it impacts Utah’s rivers and lakes and the array of wildlife that depend upon these aquatic ecosystems. The campaign provides real tools for water conservation success from the individual to the agency level and engages community leaders in solving Utah’s water problems on the local level.
The ideal candidates have a personable communication style, good writing skills, computer skills, are well organized and have a serious work ethic. Other skills desired include an understanding of current environmental problems and/or water policy, persuasive writing and event logistics. This is an excellent entry-level position for those seeking to get into nonprofit environmental work.
Two AmeriCorps service positions are available at either 300 hours or 450 hours of service to be completed between May and October 2018. These positions are flexible enough to allow either a part time or full time schedule depending upon when the Coordinator is able to begin work. We are looking for individuals that excel working both independently and in a collaborative team setting. The URC strives to maintain a fun, informal work environment where progress and accomplishment are balanced by time off and outdoor recreation.
To apply send resume, cover letter and writing sample. Please indicate whether you are interested in 300 hours or 450 hours. Apply via Email: Kim@utahrivers.org Or via regular mail: Utah Rivers Council, 1055 East 2100 South, Suite 201, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106 or to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please no phone calls.
