Barr Engineering Co. is seeking a senior environmental permitting specialist to join its Duluth office and undertake challenging and fast-paced work on environmental permitting and compliance projects. The person selected for this position will work on a variety of environmental consulting projects to support an industrial, fast-paced client base.
Work tasks may include leading teams in conducting environmental reviews and permitting; communicating with regulatory agencies and client contacts; developing and reviewing environmental permit applications; coordinating field inspections and supporting field staff; and reviewing field reports to verify environmental compliance. The specialist will work with other Barr staff, as well as with regulatory staff, clients and subcontractors.
Other activities may include mentoring junior staff and overseeing internal teams; communicating with clients; participating in meetings and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel; analyzing financial performance on projects; and completing project deliverables.
NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.
