Northern Virginia Conservation Trust (NVCT) is seeking an outgoing and motivated Outreach and Stewardship Associate to monitor our properties and strengthen relationships with landowners, partners, and supporters while expanding our visibility to new audiences. NVCT is a growing regional land trust that conserves parks, open space and nature throughout northern Virginia, at the doorstep of our Nation’s capital. The organization is well positioned to become the region’s leader in creating an interconnected system of green spaces, with a goal that all urban and suburban residents of Northern Virginia will live close to and have access to parks, trails, or protected natural areas.
General Position Description:
The Outreach and Stewardship Associate is a member of the land conservation team who monitors and stewards NVCT easement lands to meet accreditation requirements of oversight and care, as well as identifies and solves potential easement challenges such as violations in coordination with the land conservation staff. The Associate will sustain positive relationships with landowners of NVCT’s easement-protected lands by developing and carrying out outreach events, communications, and other initiatives with landowners on NVCT conserved properties in collaboration with colleagues. These activities will connect Northern Virginians to the land, deepening their engagement with NVCT while furthering relationships with NVCT’s supporters, partners, and communities. The job includes significant interaction with NVCT’s Board of Directors, land owners, vendors and donors. The Outreach and Stewardship Associate is a critical position that supports NVCT’s broad goals as outlined in its strategic plan, and the position is a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of environmental protection while offering significant time outside in nature.
