Your Duties

We are seeking a self-motivated professional with specialized expertise in planning, design and/or construction of infrastructure and building projects within a sustainable development framework. Experience with the application of rating systems to support sustainable design / development (i.e. Envision, LEED) is required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expertise and technical support and/or leadership to a wide range of sustainable design projects. You will work as part a multi-disciplinary design team to champion the sustainability agenda for projects, seeking to develop innovative solutions to client challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with clients and projects teams to develop sustainability objectives, metrics, and frameworks appropriate to the project.

  • Work with clients and project teams to identify design strategies aimed at improving triple-bottom line performance.

  • Provide appropriate analysis and reporting support to project teams and stakeholders.

  • Facilitate the certification process for internal and external design teams, from schematic design through to occupancy/operation.

  • Conduct detailed reviews of design documentation (drawings, plans, specs etc.) and energy-related system data to confirm compliance with performance requirements and applicable energy codes.

  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure conformance to sustainable design specifications, owner expectations and building codes

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in buildings engineering, environmental science, business strategy, and/or sustainability; graduate degree in engineering, science, and/or business is an asset

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience, preferably in a consulting or design capacity.

  • Solid knowledge of and experience with sustainability rating and certification systems, processes, and document submission.

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to programs, plans and strategies for project teams seeking to meet high performance sustainability objectives.

  • Experience in team facilitation.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (verbal and written).

  • LEED/Envision accreditation.

  • Experience with CAD and Revit an asset.

  • Advanced Excel/VBA capability is an asset.
