This incumbent serves as an Environmental Engineer for the Great Plains Area Office of Environmental Health and Engineering, Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction, Indian Health Service, Great Plains Area, located in Sioux City District, Rosebud Field Office, Rosebud, South Dakota. The incumbent serves in the capacity to assist the Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction staff in the implementation of Public Law 86-121. The purpose of this position is to assist in project development, design, construction, as-built development, and project training of individual and community water supply, wastewater disposal and solid waste disposal facilities.
The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3.
