Senior Environmental Advisor (12 Months Fixed Term)

North Goonyella Coal Mine is an underground longwall mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay producing a premium quality, high strength coking coal for export markets. We currently require the expertise of a Senior Environmental Advisor (12 Months Fixed Term)  
About the role:
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this position will be responsible for managing a diverse range of environmental activities and providing accurate and consistent environment management and compliance advice to stakeholders.
Key accountabilities:

  • Coordinate environmental monitoring, inspection and auditing programs to ensure environmental and statutory compliance;
  • Undertake rehabilitation trials including the development of reports to internal and external stakeholders and communicate as required;
  • Coordinate relevant environmental monitoring to satisfy requirements of Environmental Management Plans, Environmental Protection Licence and Project Approval as required;
  • Contribute to the development of statutory reports/approvals including Annual Environmental Management Report (AEMR) / Annual Review (AR) and High Risk Activity Notifications.
  • Manage and compile internal and external environmental reports as required;
  • Undertake environmental projects as required. 

About You:
Critical to your success will be: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in the Environmental Science/Management
  • Comprehensive understanding of Environmental Management Systems
  • Demonstrate understanding of compliance management and auditing systems
  • 3+ years of experience in mining or heavy industry
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong planning and execution skills
