We seek an energetic, dedicated individual who will facilitate the effective management of the plant’s Safety, Health, and Environmental programs. Reporting to the Facility Manager and working in conjunction with the Regional Safety Manager and Regional Environmental Coordinator.
The Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager oversees regulatory compliance, accident investigation/ documentation and OSHA VPP efforts. This position is responsible for safety, health, and environmental training including initial new hire and refresher training topics, as well as maintaining all training records.
Additionally, he/she will continuously monitor the performance and effectiveness of the plant’s SHE programs in the field and make program adjustments as necessary to meet performance and improvement objectives in a safe, productive manner.
Additionally, he/she will assist in coordination of regulatory inspections, stack testing, Continuous Emissions Monitoring System QA/QC requirements, ash and water sampling, and maintenance of facility operating permits (Air, Solid Waste, NJPDES, MUA, etc).
To be considered for this position, candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree (technical strongly preferred) coupled with 3+ years of experience in a combination of Health & Safety, Environmental Science, and Regulatory Compliance, preferably in a production environment.
Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 regulations, including basic industrial hygiene required, knowledge of Federal and NJ Title V Air compliance or Solid Waste facility regulations strongly preferred.
Experience in management of industrial hygiene monitoring programs and medical surveillance programs a strong plus.
Leadership ability as demonstrated in Job Hazard Analysis highly desired. Operations and Maintenance field experience (preferably in waste-to-energy or power plant facilities), strong verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office Suite are required.
The ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects / programs simultaneously and work well with all levels of the organization are also essential. Individual must feel comfortable with public speaking, as he or she will be responsible for providing effective SHE training.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership ability, display a consistently high level of enthusiasm, and have excellent organization skills.
