Summary

These positions are located in Northeast Regional Office, in the Natural Resources Division. Please visit find a park for additional park information.

Hourly Pay Rate:
Shenandoah National Park: $16.00 per hour
Delaware Water Gap: $18.33 per hour

These positions are Full-Time temporary positions not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours (about 6 months) in a service year. Positions may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Northeast Regional Office is April-October, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: 04/01/2018

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

Responsibilities

Incumbent carries out a wide variety of field activities in support of programs such as the control of non-native and invasive plant species and enhancement of native plant populations. Such activities may include inventory and assessment, habitat restoration and threat mitigation, and application of herbicides.Incumbent conducts routine and recurring resource monitoring programs for evaluating rare, threatened and endangered plant species, vegetation communities, population dynamics, ecosystem relationships, and public health/safety issues. Seeks assistance for situations not covered by instructions or guidelines.

Makes field observations of plant conditions and provides preliminary determinations on conditions/problems to professional staff for use in planning, protection and mitigation activities. Participates in revegetation activities such as site preparation, transplanting, seeding, and applying mulch or erosion mats.

Travel Required

50% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position.
