ABOUT the EVENT: Join us for the tenth biennial ICOET conference hosted by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), with support from the US DOT Federal Highway Administration. The conference is organized by the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Road Ecology Center (lead), the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies, and the National Center for Sustainable Transportation at UC Davis.

ICOET is the foremost interdisciplinary, interagency supported conference addressing the broad range of ecological issues related to transportation systems in all modes. Experts in transportation development, related scientific study, policy issues, and administrative processes gather at ICOET to share current research, quality applications, and best practices that can enhance both the project development process and the ecological sustainability of all transportation modes.

ABOUT the EVENT: 371 water works professionals attended NEWWA's 2018 Annual Conference for educational and networking opportunities. The 2018 program included technical session tracks over 2 days on topics including water treatment, management, sustainability, water resources, water quality, distribution, and groundwater. TCH credit will be available to all attendees.

Plenty of networking opportunities are also available--from multiple receptions, to panel discussions, to the membership recognition celebration. The annual Water for People silent auction is also returning, as well as the ever-popular "Aging Infrastructure" contest and "New England's Best" Drinking Water Taste Test.  A variety of guest and social programs are also on tap for the week, including Wednesday's golf tournament.

ABOUT the EVENT: The world is in a race to limit climate change. To meet the

urgent need to address climate change and achieve the goals of the Paris

Agreement, UN Secretary-General António Guterres is convening a Summit in

September 2019 to raise ambition and increase climate action. The race is on. It

is a race we can win. It is a race we must win.


Climate change is the defining issue of our time and now is the defining moment

to do something about it. There is still time to tackle climate change, but it will

require an unprecedented effort from all sectors of society. To boost ambition

and accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change,

UN Secretary-General António Guterres will host the 2019 Climate Action

Summit on 21-23 September to meet the climate challenge. The Summit will

showcase a leap in collective national political ambition and it will demonstrate

massive movements in the real economy in support of the agenda. Together,

these developments will send strong market and political signals and inject

momentum in the “race to the top” among countries, companies, cities and civil

society that is needed to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement

and the Sustainable Development Goals.
