What you’ll do: Will be responsible for the inspection of line clearance crews for OSHA and safety compliance. Observe line clearance crews for safe and at risk behaviors to increase safe operations. Lead the way in safety culture and standards for the vegetation management program. Participate safety calls and discussions with the DRG and utility teams on a weekly or as needed basis. Assist during major storms or other related duties as assigned. Successfully contribute to all aspects of vegetation management planning and analysis, when assigned. Utilize innovative technology and practices to help major electric utility providers deliver safe and reliable power. Collect data and document work using hand-held computers; assess terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions, and support IVM projects. Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions. What you’ll need: Qualifications at the Safety Inspector level: Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather. Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority. Demonstrated expertise in problemsolving, meeting deadlines, and technical innovation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area. Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record. Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation, and sharing. Preferred but not required: Two or Four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline. Preferred but not required: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Utility Specialist®, Registered Professional Forester, Utility ROW Vegetation experience. Qualifications at the Safety Professional level include all the above, plus: Has obtained the CTSP credential. Has completed OSHA 30 (General Industry Course) or willingness to complete within specific time determined at hire. Six months experience as an Inspector or two years related utility line clearance experience. No recordable OSHA or DRG safety violations within last 2 years.
