The Real Estate & Facilities (RE&F) Sustainability Program Manager will be expected to be a visionary leader and organizational strategist to develop, oversee and drive execution of sustainability goals across Microsoft’s global real estate portfolio (and the company) and will have the following responsibilities: • Convert high level sustainability strategy and vision into action to achieve meaningful results to elevate RE&F’s contribution to Corporate sustainability goals. Create and implement communication strategies to promote broad awareness of initiatives to support sustainability inquiry, change, and assessment. • Build effective partnerships on sustainability efforts with Corporate, External and Legal Affairs, HR, Sourcing and Cloud Infrastructure and Operations. • Lead development of quantitative models, metrics, and analysis of operational and environmental/ecosystem energy, water and waste impacts that address the use and reuse of resources. • Analyze industry trends, policy, and regulations to proactively identify opportunities to achieve efficiency mandates aligned with the corporate objectives of carbon neutrality and increasing renewable energy supply. • Lead efforts to amplify Microsoft? RE&F best practices within Microsoft and with key NGOs and influencers. • Seek opportunities to leverage Microsoft technology to deliver on sustainability initiatives. • Increase the visibility to the sustainability program to employees, internal stakeholders and shareholders to effectively tell the Microsoft RE&F sustainability story. • Provide day-to-day project coordination and effectively communicate strategy and priorities to senior leadership. • Champion vision and strategy within global RE&F community, build buy-in and ensure deep engagement across all functional areas. • Stay current and well briefed on latest and emerging Sustainable Building Design Standards and work with other stakeholders to ensure this insight is effectively incorporated into Microsoft standards. • Analyze industry trends, policy, and regulations to proactively identify opportunities to achieve efficiency mandates aligned with the corporate objectives of carbon neutrality and increasing renewable energy supply. • Coordinate with industry groups (WRI, RMI, AEE) and leverage Microsoft’s position in the market to influence policy and regulations that enable Microsoft to achieve its sustainability targets. • Build and manage end-to-end programs that support ecosystem resilience and responsible management of natural resources. • Identify and engage key external partners on energy and water related programs. • Develop and execute appropriate business rhythms and forums to ensure success within & across RE&F, and across the company. Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS degree • 6+ months experience in the area of sustainability and program management OR pursuant of an advanced degree in the area of sustainability.Preferred Qualifications: • Specific experience in the areas of sustainability policies, sustainable food systems, healthy living programs, conservation, energy sourcing and management, carbon inventories and reporting, waste and/or water management is preferred. • Experience in Real Estate operations preferred • Proven ability to develop and execute new programs and understanding how to institutionalize new sustainability efforts.
