Job Description

Unique opportunity for students interested in sustainability.

Seeking detail-oriented college student or recent graduate with strong interpersonal communication skills for assistance during the winter/spring months. As a Great Forest Intern, you will learn the in’s and out’s of New York City’s zero waste initiatives, along with the regulations and functions of the City’s commercial and private waste sectors. Intern’s duties will include the following:

  • Research of waste/recycling/organics related law updates, initiatives and diversion solutions.
  • Preparation of client sustainability and waste management analysis reports and presentations.
  • Research and tracking of LEED certification products and projects.
  • Day-to- day control of the company’s social media presence, including tracking of metrics and market research, as well as identification of opportunities for expansion of online presence.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, conference calls, and events regarding waste management and recycling opportunities.
  • Client data and metrics management and updates.
  • Provide assistance to the Recycling team with operational activities.
  • Admin and routine office tasks.

Background in marketing, graphic design, sustainability or environmental studies/science will be considered a plus. Candidate should be comfortable Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Adobe Illustrator Suite will be viewed favorably.

Applications will be accepted until position is filled. This is a 15-week internship, 3 days per week with stipend. Some flexibility in scheduling is possible.
