Job Description

The Position
The Wastewater Treatment Division seeks a transformational manager who will help drive the division towards its vision: "An innovative and resilient clean water enterprise revolutionizing the recovery of valuable resources for sustainable communities."  Today there is a growing understanding that byproducts of the wastewater treatment process – primarily biosolids, reclaimed water, and energy – are community assets and critical for ecological sustainability. The Sustainable Resources Manager manages a $20M annual budget and a twenty person team of engineers, scientists, and project managers responsible for utilizing the sustainable products from our waste stream and supporting sustainability and innovation. The work groups within this section include:  

  • Biosolids team responsible for managing the distribution, permitting, application, communications, market diversification for Loop® biosolids - a soil amendment for agriculture, forestry, and compost
  • Recycled water team responsible for managing the permitting, application, regulations, customer growth and management for recycled water for irrigation and other non-potable uses
  • Energy team responsible for oversight of optimization of energy production and uses, sales to local utilities, energy conservation, and carbon neutrality goal activities
  • Sustainability team responsible for tracking and coordinating division-wide sustainability efforts
  • Technology Assessment team responsible for investigating new and innovative wastewater treatment technologies.

This Section is responsible for the diversification and development of customers and markets for our products. The Sustainable Resources Manager will oversee these product lines with a comprehensive understanding of the production and benefits of the division's products. Grounded in the division's operations' processes, he or she will oversee the strategic development and diversification of customer relationships while managing external relations and program operations for all "waste to resource" programs.
