The Southern California Edison (SCE) Environmental Resources Division’s mission is to provide technical guidance on environmental resources permitting and compliance in support the company’s environmental protection, reliability, and affordability goals. SCE is looking for an experienced senior manager to lead the Biological and Archaeological Resources (BAR) team. This position will report to the Principal Manager of the Environmental Resources Management Division within the Environmental Services Department and will oversee a team consisting of a biology program manager, an archaeology program manager, four biologists, and one archaeologist.
This position is responsible for developing the company’s environmental compliance strategy for the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Archaeological Resources Protection Act, and other applicable laws and regulations. The position will oversee the development of company-wide programs for biological and archaeological resources compliance, support permitting and CEQA/NEPA review of new construction or operations and maintenance (O&M) activities, and develop approaches to programmatic permitting where applicable. The position is also responsible for establishing and managing the group’s budget, developing and tracking progress on goals, and managing staff performance, training, and development. This position will also contribute to development of the Environmental Resources Management Division’s strategic plan and major initiatives. The senior manager of the BAR group is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders, including leaders overseeing project construction or O&M activities and external stakeholders, including senior staff and managers within USFWS, CDFW, BLM and USFS. In addition, this position is responsible for reviewing proposed regulations and agency guidance to assess the potential impacts, support development of the company’s position and/or response, and work with internal stakeholders to develop implementation strategies as necessary.
