Job Description: Waste Management Specialist Senior-LTE

75% Hazardous Waste Program Field Inspections. Conduct inspections of hazardous waste facilities to determine compliance with Chapter 291, Wis. Statutes and Chapters NR 600-679, Wisconsin Administrative Code. Conduct inspections of hazardous waste generator, storage, recycling and treatment facilities. Document field observations following program protocols.

15% Enforcement
-Initiate field inspections and investigations associated with initiating environmental enforcement activities.
-Work with local Environmental Enforcement staff to collect evidence for hazardous waste enforcement cases and other regulatory compliance efforts.
-Collect samples from solid and liquid waste, wastewater, sludge, sediment, leachate, contaminated soil, surface and groundwater while maintaining chain of custody for appropriate laboratory analysis.

5% Complaint Response. Respond to and follow up on complaints related to management of solid and hazardous waste.

5% Other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge Required:
-Knowledge of state laws, administrative rules, and policies that pertain to Waste & Materials Management
-Effective Verbal and written communication skills
-Degree and/or equivalent Experience in an environmental, natural resource, science, or engineering based field

***NOTE*** This position will be half-time (20 hours per week over the course of a year). This position is being filled in conjunction with the Waste Management Specialist Senior Job #11251. One person could be hired to fill each job, but you must apply for both.
