Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Planner for immediate employment in the Honolulu, HI office. This position requires work within a group and individual setting and the ability to complete tasks within tight deadlines as well as technical expert supporting various levels of staff through mentoring and career development. This position will report to the Planning/Environmental Planning Director.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with and support Senior Environmental Planners in carrying out Environmental Assessments and other approvals and permitting activities

  • Working with clients, resource agencies, environmental and technical staff to prepare environmental documents and related technical studies

  • Provide appropriate support to AECOM multidisciplinary teams in delivering satisfactory outcomes to the client

  • Manage and support environmental planning projects, as needed

  • Identify opportunities and build relationships in local governments

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or studies, Planning, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Management, or related field

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assess environmental impacts with increasing responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high level of competence in the area of technical report writing related to NEPA compliance as well as other types of technical reports and regulatory (Federal, State, local) permitting documents

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or Studies, Planning, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Management or related field

  • Knowledge and experience in preparing Hawaii State Chapter 343 environmental compliance and permitting documentation

  • Experience with environmental compliance and permitting related to military related projects

  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and change orders
