Job Description

One position is available in the Air Quality Permits Section.  This opportunity can be filled as an Engineer Grad 1 or Engineer Grad 2. 

This position manages air quality permitting projects in accordance with federal and state statutes and regulations.  Responsibilities include the development and coordination of permitting project schedules; technical evaluation of proposals; determination of appropriate permit requirements; drafting permits and associated documents; communicating with permittees and interested parties one-on-one and through presentations.  The position will provide technical review of engineering products associated with permits and enforcement cases to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.

Qualifications

Engineer 1 Graduate 

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering from an accredited engineering college.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to track detailed information in an organized manner;
  • Excellent knowledge of computer software data management tools;
  • Effective communication skills including written communications;
  • Effective human relations skills to work with clientele, staff, and other partners;
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving technical matters.

Ability to travel up to 10%.

Engineer 2 Graduate

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or Bioproducts and Biosystems  Engineering from an accredited engineering college, plus 18 months of engineering experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to track detailed information in an organized manner;
  • Proficient knowledge of computer software data management tools;
  • Excellent communication skills including written communications;
  • Effective human relations skills to work with clientele, staff, and other partners;
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving technical matters;
  • Ability to bring projects to conclusion.

Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering coursework in air quality/air pollution.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of air pollution control engineering.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Air quality permitting experience.
