Job Description

This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, BASE KODIAK, Facilities Engineering Department, in Kodiak, AK.


The selectee serves as the Environmental Division Chief for the Environmental Management Branch. The Branch is responsible for implementing a wide range of environmental compliance, environmental cleanup, restoration and environmental liabilities, pollution prevention, environmental stewardship, environmental sustainment, and environmental planning activities and initiatives.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

-Acting as first level supervisor of an interdisciplinary staff comprised of professional and technical personnel, both local and/or in detached (remote) locations.

-Serving as a leading technical authority guiding and monitoring execution of the Coast Guard environmental program.

-Serving as subject matter expert providing advice, guidance, technical assistance, training and professional development and general environmental program review and support.

-Monitoring developments in changing environmental laws, regulations, executive orders and Departmental policies to determine Coast Guard requirements for compliance.

-Providing technical expertise and assist units with a full range of compliance program requirements, initiatives, process and procedures.
