As a Senior Rail Permitting Specialist, you will serve as a senior representative to a key client.  As one of the leading environmental consulting firms, we draw upon a global network of skills and resources to deliver some of the largest and most challenging projects out there. As a senior professional, you will build relationships and networks across the business and with a key client. You will build upon your previous experience with environmental permitting, including coastal permitting and consistency determinations, NEPA, CEQA, Section 408, Section 404, Section 10, California RWQCB permitting, California Fish and Wildlife coordination and permitting, and similar processes. You will be responsible for:

  • Interpreting environmental regulations affecting linear transportation infrastructure and translating applicable requirements into strategic, cost-effective compliance approaches
  • Networking within industry organizations, technical seminars, and trade shows, including delivering technical presentations
  • Reviewing technical work products, acting as a subject matter expert, and driving high quality project deliverables at both a project and program level

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Science, or Engineering 
  • 15+ years of experience in the environmental planning and permitting field in the United States, particularly in California, with at least 5 years with environmental planning and permitting for linear rail transportation projects
  • Demonstrated regulatory technical background as applied to environmental planning and permitting projects 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Client development skills and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing staff
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a collaborative, positive workplace environment
  • The ability to integrate commercial, technical, and execution aspects of project delivery into a full package for client satisfaction and CH2M's success
  • Additional experience outside of California, including the Pacific Northwest, upper Midwest, and other locations throughout the Western U.S.
