The State Water Resources Control Board’s, Division of Financial Assistance has one opening for a Student Assistant (Engineering & Architectural Sciences) in the Office of Sustainable Water Solutions, Small Community Drinking Water Unit.
Under the close supervision of a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer and consistent with good customer service goals of the Division of Financial Assistance (Division), the Student Assistant works on a variety of sub-professional tasks related to planning, design, construction and implementation of water quality protection and improvement projects. Projects are related to drinking water, wastewater, water recycling, and integrated regional water management. Knowledge of basic engineering principles is necessary for the incumbent to be successful in the position. Specific duties include:
• Working at the sub-professional level, assisting staff in the review and evaluation of project funding applications, reports, and proposals for compliance with statutes, regulations, State Water Board Policies, Guidelines, and Procedures. Assist staff in preparing special studies or coordinating technical assistance for potential funding applicants.
• Assist staff with data collection and coordination of database efforts (e.g. Loans & Grants Tracking System, Financial Assistance Application Submittal Tool, etc.) for tracking water quality projects funded by the Division. Assist staff with database maintenance.
• Update and organize program filing systems and libraries. Assist in file room activities. Create funding program electronic and paper project files using standard operating procedures. Respond to email/phone inquiries regarding Division funding programs technical review process. Attend meetings related to Division funding programs to discuss the project funding and review process. Perform other duties as assigned.
