Job Description

SWCA's Half Moon Bay office is expanding our team and seeking one or more on-call hourly Environmental Planners to support a variety of environmental projects.  Work hours may vary depending on project needs and your skills. On-call staff are requested for work as it becomes available and are free to accept or refuse the work based on their schedule. As the Half Moon Bay office continues to grow, additional opportunities for advancement will be available.

This position will assist with environmental research and data collection, preparation and review of regulatory permits, preparation of environmental documents and technical reports. A working knowledge of California’s environmental regulatory structure and processes is required.

What you will accomplish:

  • Conduct background research and data collection on land use and environmental topics for CEQA/NEPA documents
  • Author generalist sections of CEQA/NEPA documents and work closely with the project manager in producing documents
  • Compile and organize administrative records and project files
  • Prepare and review regulatory permits
  • Ensure tasks are completed in the most effective manner with a high-degree of quality and reliability
  • Work closely with SWCA staff to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values

Experience and qualifications for success:

  • BA or BS in environmental planning, environmental science, natural resource management, geology, or related field required 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in related work required
  • Experience with electric transmission, renewable energy, transportation, and infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting laws and processes required
  • Working knowledge of CPUC’s transmission planning process, and General Order 131-D, and California land use regulations
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and Acrobat
  • Must be able to travel 

This position is temporary, hourly.  Pay is dependent on experience.
