Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our team in Blue Bell, PA. 

Skills / Qualifications


  • Environmental Scientist BS / BA in engineering, geology or environmental science or other technical / science discipline; M.S preferred
  • At least 5-10 years of diverse, multi-disciplined environmental consulting experience
  • Must have experience performing hazardous building materials assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint building assessments and surveys, asbestos and lead-based paint abatement oversight, indoor air quality surveys, water intrusion assessments and mold assessments
  • Must be familiar with the use of specialized sampling equipment and sampling methodologies for performing various IAQ assessments
  • Current and valid AHERA Building Inspector accreditation a must
  • Must also be familiar with and capable of performing other environmental field sampling and investigation activities including soil and groundwater sampling, installation of soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells, soils excavation, and other environmental-related investigations
  • Must have experience in coordinating and management of field activities; this would include identification of subcontractors, coordination with laboratories to establish required sampling requirements and methodologies, client coordination and overall execution of field activities
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and should be able to work independently to generate clear, concise and accurate scientific reports for the projects on which the candidate has worked on
  • Must have experience working on hazardous waste sites
  • OSHA 40Houw HAZWOPER training a must
  • Occasional overnight travel is required


  • Experience providing geotechnical boring oversight and the collection of geotechnical boring samples would be considered is a bonus
  • Additional asbestos accreditations and licenses (e.g. Management Planner, Project Designer, Abatement Supervisor) are desirable
  • Most work is performed in, but not limited to, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, DC, New Jersey and New York; specific state and / or city licenses / certifications for asbestos occupations within these areas is desirable
  • Lead-based paint Inspector and Risk Assessor training and certification is also desirable
  • Experience working in the railroad environment is a plus
