HDR ICA is looking for an Entry Level Environmental/Ecological Scientist in Raleigh , NC. This individual will assist the Ecological Restoration Group of HDR ICA with tasks primarily associated with the development, implementation and monitoring of stream and wetland mitigation projects within the Southeastern United States. These tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitoring of stream and wetland mitigation sites
  • Construction management of mitigation sites
  • Stream and wetland mitigation assessment support
  • Stream and wetland delineation and determinations
  • Stream and wetland functional assessments
  • Natural community assessments
  • Threatened and Endangered species investigations
  • Report preparation and technical documentation
  • Analysis and manipulation of GIS data
    • Landowner communication/coordination


Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences or related field required.

Must have a general knowledge, practical understanding and previous educational course load which included several of the following items:

  • Groundwater Hydrology
  • Plant and tree identification
  • Soils analysis
  • Watershed hydrology
  • Fluvial Geomorphic processes
  • Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, GIS and GPS applications
  • Ability to traverse difficult terrain for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in conditions that may include high heat 
  • indices flowing water, saturated soils and interaction with wildlife
  • Ability to travel (stay overnight), commonly on short notice, for
  •  potentially several days at a time
  • Ability and willingness to interact with, and present technical data
  • regarding mitigation to landowners of potential mitigation sites
  • Ability and willingness to perform various strenuous work activities in
  •  challenging conditions
    • A valid NC Divers License
