Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Engineering Intern for employment in the Honolulu, Hawaii office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Interns will be assigned challenging projects and tasks under the supervision of project managers or senior environmental scientists or engineers. Project areas include sediment remediation, groundwater investigation, vapor intrusion mitigation, basic science and engineering, and data evaluation

  • Interns will be included in organization events such as staff meetings and brown bag workshops and be allowed opportunities for networking and informational briefings with key personnel

  • Learning objectives will be established at the start of the internship with his/her supervisor to provide clear direction and targeted goals. Exit interviews will be conducted to evaluate progress toward learning objectives and performance

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science or engineering, soil science, agriculture, geology or any scientific related field)

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Candidate must be in their Sophomore year and have not completed Senior Year (graduated) at the time of the Intern

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of environmental data collection, identification, investigation, and data entry

  • A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
