Administrative/Executive Advocacy Climate Change/GHG Communication/Public Outreach

Job Description

Want to help lead the climate movement in Virginia?
Make a difference for the environment and your community

The Sierra Club is looking for students with a passion for protecting the environment and the ambition to make a difference.

Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. We are the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States.

Virginia Sierra Club interns work directly with experienced advocates and organizers to develop and implement campaigns to protect the environment. Interns assist staff in coordinating workshops and presentations, building for rallies, recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, and generating public support for key issues.

Prospective interns should be prepared to work in a fast-paced and community-oriented professional environment and commit to 15-20 hours per week.

Schedules are flexible and some weekend opportunities are available. Though internships are unpaid, class credit may be negotiated with your educational institution. The Sierra Club is happy to work with students to build their resume and network with professionals.

Internships are available in Richmond, Newport News and Norfolk only, are limited and fill up quickly.

We have filled all positions for Spring 2017, but are accepting applications for Summer 2017 through May 8, 2017.
