Job Description
Chief Ranger – Law Enforcement (LE) assists in the overall management of the park by recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising classified and seasonal staff, volunteers, and other work program participants. The Chief Ranger assists other park management staff in the overall management of: maintenance of buildings and grounds, including all related tools and equipment; effective operation of all facilities, and the delivery of a variety of programs that promote the natural, environmental, cultural, and historical assets of the park.
With the use of Conservation Officer Powers, the Chief Ranger LE supports park programs and services with special emphasis on providing for public safety and resource protection by enforcing park rules, regulations, and state laws.
Multiple positions at State Parks throughout the Commonwealth will be filled from this advertisement.

Minimum Qualifications
Position requires demonstrated abilities to supervise and train staff and volunteers; demonstrated abilities to provide comprehensive services to park visitors; knowledge of buildings and grounds equipment, materials, and tools maintenance and related skill sets that demonstrates the ability to manage park facilities and grounds. Position also requires demonstrated skills in effective verbal communications with diverse audiences as well as subordinate and auxiliary staff. Work history that includes interpreting policies, rules, and/or regulations and effectively applying the same to a variety of circumstances and events. Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated work history or volunteer experience in a parks and recreation or similar environment. Education, training, or demonstrated progressive experience related: to nature and the environment, or facilities and grounds maintenance, or standard business operations including retails sales and cash management.
