Job Description

Anchor QEA, an environmental science and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Natural Resource Scientist for its office in Wenatchee or Stevenson, Washington, or Portland, Oregon. Location in other offices throughout the Pacific Northwest is negotiable.
The Natural Resource Scientist will support a broad range of fisheries and aquatic species investigations including population and behavioral assessments, telemetry studies, interpreting the effects of anthropogenic and environmental habitat change on aquatic species, and conducting other analyses to support client needs.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical skillset in fisheries or aquatic science and the proven ability to frame and analyze problems to provide answers or solutions. Additionally, excellent writing skills and the ability to conduct data analysis are required. This expertise may be derived from academic or professional experience or a combination thereof.

Although not required, experience in any of the following subject areas is desired:
Acoustic or radio telemetry studies
Hatchery evaluations
Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag analyses
Implementing field studies

The geographic scope of work will be focused mainly on the Columbia River Basin but may also include other locations throughout the country as needed. Frequent travel and/or work outdoors may be required. The position and opportunity is expected to grow with the interest and aptitude of the incumbent.This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science, biology, statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred. In addition, the Natural Resource Scientist typically has a minimum of 5 years of professional experience. Applicable educational experience may substitute for some of the professional experience requirement.
