REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Water Resources Manager. This position will remain open until sufficient applications are received.
Position is a senior-level supervisory position responsible for development and administration of regional water resource policy, planning, and management programs. Position requires strong analytical skills, an affinity for public policy, and the application of environmental principles in planning. Success in this position requires leadership through active project management, creative program development and strategic planning. Work involves supervision of administrative and program personnel and advancement of programmatic activities focused on water resource assessments, comprehensive planning, water resource diversification, water conservation, environmental protection, multi-jurisdictional initiatives, and integration of climate considerations in policy and planning. Specific activities include review and preparation of technical documents, the use of hydrologic models to guide decision-making, procurements for services, contract and budget management, legislative support, and staffing of boards and committees. Must have excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, strong presentation skills, and an ability to foster collaborations.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a professional or scientific field such as biology, ecology, environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrology or closely related field.
Requires six (6) years of experience in programs related to water quantity and quality, water resources planning or management including two (2) years of supervisory experience.Preferences
Advanced degree in the environmental sciences or engineering.
Knowledge of regional hydrology.
Experience in interpreting hydrologic model results.
Extensive knowledge of climate impacts on water resources.
Experience in integrated water resource management.
Experience in the use of GIS.
