Description
Position Responsibilities:
• The Sr. Environmental Engineer is responsible for driving environmental compliance within the site
• Provides a leadership role and integrates environmental programs into the plant processes
• Implement self auditing programs to ensure 100% compliance with all internal and external requirements
• Maintain and continuously improve regulatory compliance assurance process through overall direction of the site’s environmental programs
• Evaluate, develop and effectively implement new environmental work processes or procedures
• Develop site environmental procedures and help communicate and implement these at the site.
• Provides expertise for and review environmental management of changes (MOCs) prior to submitting.
• Establishes environmental objectives and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations at the facility
• Works to establish pollution prevention and waste management activities to reduce the facility’s environmental impact and liability
• Successfully integrates environmental processes into plant operations via the Compliance Operating System (COS) to ensure compliance with legal, other requirements and required reporting
• Identify opportunities and drive improvement opportunities to achieve assigned goals (e.g. waste or emission reduction, loss of primary containment reduction, etc.)
• Supports and participates in the Honeywell Operating System (HOS)
• Work with plant management to help ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of all environmental incidents, as well as timely and sustainable closure of all environmental corrective actions
• Provide expertise / guidance in environmental regulations applicable to the plant and in specific requirements of plant operating permits
• Prepares and submits routine environmental reports (discharge monitoring reports, deviation reports, annual compliance certifications, emissions inventory, etc…) to regulatory agencies as required by regulations and permits
• Develop, track, and report for Risk Management, SARA TRI, and Tier II requirements
• Complete and sign hazardous waste manifests and obtain a Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Certification
• Work with Environmental Specialists and Environmental Business Implementation Leader in the organization to understand complex federal and state air, water, and waste regulations and communicate those to site personnel as needed
• Anticipate regulatory impacts and partner with the broader HSE functional team to develop & implement strategies for compliance with legal and other requirements
• Participates in advocacy activities at the community, legislative, regulatory and trade association to minimize impacts on plant goals
• Interfaces with regulatory agencies as site host relative to HSE inspections, inquiries and associated corrective action plans
• Working general knowledge of Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Emergency Planning Community Right to Know Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and associated compliance requirements.Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or degree in science or related field
• 5+ years experience in environmental regulations, HSE management systems and compliance programs

Preferred Qualifications:
• 7+ years experience in environmental management, with some of that experience in a chemical or petrochemical environment
• Background on developing Title V Major Source Air Permit and NPDES Permit and associated compliance activities
• Demonstrates ability to work well with all organizational site and PMT functional and commercial business levels
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated ability to work with teams
• Self-motivated with strong initiative and bias for action
• Uncompromising drive for compliance and willingness to escalate issues
• The Sr. Environmental Engineer will need to demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills and have the ability to interface with and influence all levels of plant personnel
• Experience with SAP, MS PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel (Macros and Visual Basic experience preferred)
