As a(n) Supervisory Hydrologist, Chemist or Biologist within the National Water Quality Lab, some of your specific duties will include:
Serve as the senior scientist and manager of the National Water Quality Laborato
Responsible for oversight and leadership of scientific, technical guidance, and policy development to ensure the continued excellence of the laboratory.
Develops new theories, ideas, and techniques to ensure the scientific viability of the laboratory. Strategic vision can take the form of evaluating the Nation's future need and priority for new and cost efficient water quality methods, techniques, and quality assurance programs.
Work includes oversight of fiscal, technical and scientific, human resources, and information technology to assure continued high quality performance and timely delivery of products.
Formulate policies of operation to support the needs of other Federal and State agencies and formulates plans and programs to serve their need for research and development into new and advanced types of physical, chemical, and biological methods as well as services for production level water quality data.
Operate government vehicle as incidental driver.
USGS has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. The official worksite for the selectee is the duty location identified in this vacancy announcement. The selectee will typically report to this location on a regular and recurring basis.
