Open to all current U.S Fish and Wildlife employees serving under a career or career-conditional appointment or current and/or former time-limited employees eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act.

The incumbent works at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge but also services as the the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tincum serving as the Remedial Activities Coordinator for both refuges. In addition, the incumbent may assist with similar remediation efforts on an as needed basis at other refuges.  

Duties include:
-Continued operation and maintenance activities at two previously remediated landfills
-Monitor and report on all activities occurring at landfills owned by the refuges
-Regulatory oversight of the landfills
-Developing  Remedial Investigation/Feasibility studies
-Serving as a technical expert for the Superfund process and application of CERCLA and Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act relative to landfill remediation and operation and maintenance projects on refuge landfills
