The Corporate Sustainability Analyst works with internal stakeholders to implement corporate sustainability initiatives and programs including metrics development and external reporting support. The Corporate Sustainability Analyst position is directly responsible for maintaining and tracking greenhouse gas (GHG) / carbon emissions inventories and multi-commodity recycling activities across multiple business units. The Analyst position is also responsible for monitoring and tracking environmental policy and regulatory initiatives on a federal, state and local level. The Analyst position also provides research and analysis of industry sustainability initiatives such as supply chain and corporate social responsibility. Main Accountabilities
Assist in formulation and implementation of corporate sustainability. This will include the following responsibilities: (1) establish and maintain corporate GHG emissions inventories and preparation of annual reporting statements to regulatory agencies, (2) coordination with DSM, Conservation Connection and other company energy efficiency and sustainability programs, (3) working with operations, affiliates and facilities / fleet to monitor, report and implement GHG reduction strategies and materials recycling programs, (4) monitor and analyze federal state and local sustainability initiatives, (5) support corporate communications in external reporting efforts, and (6) participation in cross-functional teams to implement, monitor and track corporate sustainability initiatives in diverse business units.
Monitors and tracks environmental regulatory initiatives on a federal, state and local level. Will include the following responsibilities: (1) responsible for review of federal register, state registers and local information sources to assist corporate compliance, advocacy and planning activities, (2) participation in state rule-making workgroups, (3) assist in drafting comments to rule-makings on behalf of Vectren in environmental and corporate sustainability matters, and (4) participation in cross-functional teams to determine potential economic impacts of proposed legislation or regulatory initiative.
Support the Vectren Corporation initiative to align policies, guidelines and processes that have been identified in support services areas to manage risk and improve operational efficiencies across the Vectren operating companies. This will involve active engagement on cross operating company committees to ensure related policies and processes are performing to the expectations set by those committees or updated directions that executive management may set. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in public or environmental policy, legal, environmental science, or other closely related field.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy.Work Experience
0-2 years of relevant experience.
Environmental regulatory experience, either through a regulatory agency, corporate environmental department or legal practice. Experience analyzing environmental policy for a utility or similar energy business. In-depth knowledge and experience with a wide variety of utility operations.Functional/Technical Competency Requirements
Must possess strong analytical and policy analysis skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated and self-directed, able to coordinate multiple tasks across various operating units.
Must be familiar with various utility operating units and have a basic understanding of utility operations. Environmental regulatory experience, either through a regulatory agency, corporate environmental department or legal practice.
