Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Planner for employment in the St Catharines, Canada office who is seeking more experience and responsibility combined with exposure to a wide variety of municipal infrastructure (road, water, wastewater and stormwater) and environmental assessment planning related projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Work with and support senior project managers in carrying out Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, for road, water, wastewater and stormwater projects
Coordinate, organize, prepare for, attend, and document Environmental Team meetings
Coordinate the development and implementation of consultation programs, including municipal, regulatory agency and First Nations engagement
Prepare maps and figures in GIS (ArcGIS 10)
Coordinate work of environmental specialists (i.e., fisheries, terrestrial, noise, air, archaeology, built heritage, etc.)
Liaise with local, provincial, and Federal agencies regarding permits and approvals
Coordinate EA implementation and Compliance Monitoring Programs
Collaborate with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments
Liaise with clients by phone, email, and writing
Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and participation in industry associations

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or related field
Familiarity with the Ontario Environmental Assessment (EA) Act, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA),
Ontario Energy Board environmental policies, Ontario Regulation 359/09 and other legislation related to the position
(e.g. Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act, Navigation Protection Act, Environmental Protection Act)
Knowledge of other relevant Ontario Legislation and Provincial Policy (i.e., the Planning Act, the Greenbelt Act, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
Proficient GIS mapping
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrated experience coordinating schedule, budget and quality on projects
Strong problem solving skills and ability to work well with people
Ability to plan and prioritize workload to manage multiple assignments at one time
Class G driver’s license
