The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member Assist in preparing engineering related calculations, design drawings, specifications, and visual aids If OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour trained, assist with field work (e.g., groundwater and soil sampling, well installation) Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories Assist in interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance, and drafting reports based on observed conclusions and professional judgment Miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis
Minimum Requirements Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models or other drainage and water modeling software) If the successful candidate is a university student that has more than one year of school remaining before earning a degree (Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors) the student may be eligible to return for additional internships. If the successful candidate is a university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree (Senior), contingent upon a positive performance review, that student may receive an offer of full-time employment.
