Job Description

There is 1 vacancy available in the following location: Syracuse, NE. The incumbent will serve as a Biologist in the local field office, to the Wetland Assistance Team, Assistant State Conservationist (ASTC), Field Operations Area 3, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary purpose of the position is to provide assistance to the team in planning and guiding the biology, natural area, water quality and wetland restoration phases of the team. The incumbent is under the general supervision of the Team Leader.

Applies a wide range of soil and water conservation concepts, principles, techniques and practices of biology, agronomy, grazing lands management, and hydrology in order to advise and recommend development and treatment alternatives for conservation plans and resource development projects.
Plans and carries out the assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices, especially with providing assistance on controversial or unusual situations that do not have clear precedents.
Addresses the various aspects of biological or environmental conservation as they relate to wetland conservation, involving performing duties that require unrelated steps, processes, methods, or procedures and applying well established methods.
Coordinates and advises on work efforts or resolve issues or operating problems.
